I have just been given the delightful opportunity (as the person in charge of the German exams) to let you know the outcome of your studies and examinations: you have been awarded the BA in German and History with First Class Honours. I'm not familiar with how honors work in other countries. What does that equate to? In the US, we have cum laude (honors), magna cum laude (high honors), and summa cum laude (highest honors).

No matter how it works out, exactly, congratulations are in order.

I think it's a 3.6 - 4.0 in your system? I couldn't say exactly regarding the cum laude system though.

Is it the highest honors you could have gotten? If so, it would be the equivalent of a magna cum laude.
